SaaS
Enterprise software, B2B platforms, and cloud-native products: MSAs, SLAs, subprocessors, and procurement cycles at scale.
Established 2019 · Chandigarh · Mumbai · New Delhi
SB Tech Associates is India's first comprehensive technology law firm. In seven years we have grown from a founder-led practice in Chandigarh to a three-city advisory platform, without losing the fluency in code, contracts, and commercial judgment that our clients hired us for on day one.
We do not treat technology as a footnote to corporate law. We treat it as the substrate on which modern enterprise is built, and we advise accordingly. Our lawyers don't just advise on code; many write it, ship products, and can step into a CTO's chair when your deal, product, or dispute demands it.
Brands & Businesses
We work with innovative brands, high-growth companies and established enterprises across India's technology economy, from SaaS and fintech to gaming, media, and emerging tech.
Enterprise software, B2B platforms, and cloud-native products: MSAs, SLAs, subprocessors, and procurement cycles at scale.
Payments, lending, neobanks, and wealth-tech: RBI-facing compliance, partnership models, and regulatory licensing strategy.
DPDP readiness, consent architecture, SDF compliance, cross-border transfers, and privacy diligence for fundraises and M&A.
CERT-In directions, incident response, breach notification, and cyber resilience frameworks for regulated and high-growth tech.
E-sports, fantasy sports, and game studios: OGAI compliance, prize-pool structuring, KYC, and ASCI advertising obligations.
OTT, streaming, news aggregators, and content platforms: licensing, intermediary liability, and synthetic media governance.
Platform liability, merchant agreements, consumer protection, and marketplace compliance at national scale.
AI, blockchain, drones, and frontier products: sandboxes, risk tiers, deployment documentation, and public-sector pilots.
Our Story
We are a young firm by traditional measures, and we consider that an advantage. Every engagement since 2019 has been shaped by live exposure to India's technology regulatory moment: data protection, platform liability, outsourcing, and the compliance expectations of global enterprise.
We translate architecture, data flows, and platform risk into legal positions that survive negotiations, investor diligence, regulator scrutiny, and the courtroom. Compliance should enable growth, not paralyse it.
2019
Founded in Chandigarh. Shweta Bansal establishes SB Tech Associates with a focused mandate: technology transactions, regulatory advisory, and disputes where digital infrastructure sits at the centre of the controversy.
2020–22
Depth before scale. Repeat mandates across SaaS, fintech, health-tech, and enterprise IT, drafting MSAs, SLAs, and data-processing agreements that survive technical diligence, not just legal review.
2023
Mumbai & New Delhi. Expansion brings us closer to capital markets, global headquarters, and the policy conversations shaping India's digital economy.
2024–26
A comprehensive platform. A three-office technology law practice spanning transactions, compliance, and disputes, with counsel who bring CTO-level fluency and ex-Big Four compliance leadership to every mandate.
How We Practise
01
We read your stack, vendor map, and data flows before we opine. Advice that cannot survive a CTO's questions is advice we do not give.
02
Our drafts are built for negotiation and operation, allocation of risk, service levels, exit rights, and audit mechanics stated with precision.
03
DPDP, sectoral guidelines, outsourcing norms, and cross-border data transfer requirements are integrated into how we structure transactions, not bolted on after signing.
04
When relationships fracture, we represent clients in arbitration and litigation with the same command of the underlying technology that informed the original contract.
What We Do
From seed-stage SaaS to enterprise transformation programmes, we advise on the legal architecture of how technology is bought, built, deployed, and governed in India.
Trusted by visionaries. Driven by impact.
Advisory & Disputes
Advisory
We sit with product, engineering, and procurement teams, translating technical reality into contract architecture, compliance roadmaps, and board-ready risk memos.
Disputes
When negotiations fail, we represent clients before arbitral tribunals and courts, with pleadings and evidence that reflect how systems actually behaved.
Our People
A deliberately compact leadership bench — two partners, senior enough to own the mandate, accessible enough to stay on the work.
Founder & Managing Partner
Shweta founded SB Tech Associates to close the gap between how products are built and how law is applied. She advises on IPR, DPDP, AI governance, platform liability and emerging tech, bringing CTO-level fluency to deal structuring, regulatory strategy and dispute-ready documentation.
Partner, Compliance & Governance
Rashik heads regulatory compliance and due diligence, drawing on his experience at KPMG to deliver investor-ready diligence, FEMA/FDI structuring and governance frameworks for startups and growth-stage companies.
Thought Leadership
Our partners are practising academicians and keynote speakers at the AI Summit, Legrand Summit, and leading industry forums on technology law and arbitration. They deliver expert lectures to government officials, judicial officers, and police on frontier digital law, and run training programmes to shape the next generation of technology lawyers.

Official recognition under the Startup India initiative. We offer structured pro bono counsel for eligible DPIIT-recognised startups, because early-stage founders should not have to choose between legal clarity and runway. The same standards of technical and commercial rigour apply; the fee structure does not.
